Begonia ‘Benitochiba’

Introduced to Europe in 1990 by the Rochefort Begonia Conservatory, this hybrid is a cross between Begonia ‘Filigree’ and Begonia luxurians, raised by Isamu MISONO in Japan in 1973.

Appearance

The leaves are palmate, a feature found only in this begonia. The plant has a bushy habit and can reach 20 cm. The maple-like foliage is a mix of pink and silver, veined with black. There is also a darker form.

Culture

This hybrid needs plenty of light, without direct sun, and generous but infrequent watering, for good growth and bright foliage. It is also important to feed it regularly from March to October.

Propagation

This hybrid is fairly easy to propagate from leaf cuttings.
