Begonia wrayi is native to the Malay Peninsula and extreme southeastern Thailand.
As a lithophytic begonia, it thrives on granitic rocks along stream banks of within forests, typically at altitudes around 1200 meters.
Its upright stems, adorned with green and red hues, feature swollen nodes from which adventitious roots and new leafy branches emerge.
The palmatinervate leaves display distinct asymmetry, with an irregularly toothed limb ending in a caudate apex and a velvety upper surface. The red veins starkly contrast against the bright green of the limb.
