The begonia collection of the City of Lyon Botanical Garden was listed as a \u2018National Collection\u2019 in 2010 by the CCVS (Conservatoire des Collections V\u00e9g\u00e9tales Sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9es). The collection dates back to the 19th<\/sup> century, when the Parc de la T\u00eate d\u2019Or was the meeting place of Lyon\u2019s horticulturists, some of whose hybrids are still preserved. Today, 650 botanical taxa are grown in a greenhouse that is closed to the public. However, in May the botanical garden holds flower shows in the large greenhouses, where they can be admired. Many species are also included in the new plantings in the hothouses and large greenhouses.
